In this article you are going to learn about one of the biggest mistakes people make that stop them from having the life they want. And then I will give you insight into the foundation of NLP that you can use today to become healthier, make more money and have more fulfilling relationships.

Please don’t let the simplicity of this technique (it takes less than a few minutes) distract you from just how powerful it truly is.

Know Your Outcome

One of the biggest mistakes people make is that they float through life without truly knowing what it is that they want to achieve. The basis behind NLP for self-development purposes is to have the particular outcome that you want to achieve in your mind.

Just think what would happen if you get in your car and you don’t have a destination in mind. You will waste a lot of time, money and energy just driving around. And sure, you will end up somewhere but wouldn’t it be better to take a few moments and actually plan on where you want to go?

The flip side of the coin are those people that not only know their outcome but strive to make sure that nothing will ever stand in the way of achieving their goals.

How To Quickly Set Compelling Outcomes

The most important thing that you want to keep in mind when setting your outcome is to focus on what you want. This may seem obvious, but many times when working with clients to set powerful goals and outcomes people are mainly focused on what they don’t want.  They will say things like, “I don’t want to be overweight anymore.” Or they may say, “I don’t want to be in this low-paying job anymore.”

These people surely have good intentions behind those statements but both are focusing on what they don’t want. A much more powerful way to set their outcomes would be to say: “In the next 3 months I will focus on eating healthier so that I can lose 5 pounds of excess weight and gain more energy.”

Notice how that outcome is measurable (3 months, 5 pounds) and is stated in the positive. This will enable your “mind’s eye” to see where it needs to achieve.

Set Your Outcome Now

So now that you know the main rule you should have in all areas of your life is to have an outcome, try it on for yourself.

Simply take one area of your life–whether it is your health, wealth, relationships or something else–and set an outcome that is stated in the positive.

Take just few minutes right now and focus on a positive outcome in one specific area of your life. Some people like to write it down while others find it beneficial to spend some time envisioning their success in the future.

Just this simple exercise will empower your subconscious mind to lead you to your outcome!
